The Background: 

Hess is an independent energy company, truly global and with thousands of staff working 24/7 across all time-zones.

The Problem: 

The organization’s learning and development did not reflect the fast-paced, international nature of their business and was instead a time-consuming series of episodic events with little context or relationships with each other. We were tasked with creating a one-stop-shop for learning, ‘open’ 24/7.

The Solution: 

We created and built ‘Hess Knowledge-Net’ a comprehensive learning environment through which managers could access data, assess, measure, learn and share. The system is totally stand-alone and allows busy managers the opportunity to ‘learn on the hoof,’ accessed via laptop, BlackBerry, PDA etc to review, reflect or simply ‘learn how to...’ (for example ‘coach someone,’ ‘conduct a performance review,’ ‘create a strategy,’ etc. The system also allows the creation of forums, learning communities and ‘expert advice.’
